Obituary of Tomiko Gillespie

Tomiko Gillespie, 65, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Ruby Memorial Hospital of Morgantown, WV. She was born in Nagasaki, Japan on May 2, 1948, a daughter of the late Taziko and Yoshiko. Survivors include her husband, Tom; and her siblings, Takeshi of Nagasaki, Japan, Kaoru of Tokyo, Japan and Kikue of Nagasaki, Japan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Tatsuo. Tomiko was the owner / proprietor of Gemstone, a small Jazz Bar in Nagasaki, Japan for more than 25 years. She married and then moved to Morgantown where she spent her days studying English and keeping her home. She loved people, caring and providing for others and cooking. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Sunday, April 27th from 3-5 PM only. There will be visitation or funeral service in the funeral home, however, a graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday afternoon, April 28th at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover. Anyone attending the graveside service is asked to gather at the cemetery no later than 1:45 PM Monday. Send condolences online @ hastingsfuneralhome.com
