Ethel Eileen Ward, 93, of 121 Woodland Ave., Morgantown, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at Rosewood Center of Grafton, WV.
She was born in Worcester, Mass. on September 30, 1920, a daughter of the late Waldo V. Taillon and the late Mildred (Lawson) Taillon.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Ward and his wife Terri Bellman Ward of Morgantown; two grandchildren, Barbara Kent and her husband Mike of Chestertown, MD, and Jennifer Jordan and her husband Jamie of Romney, WV; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Jordan; a sister, Eleanor Morehouse of Florida and one brother-in-law, Steve Beaudry of Massachusetts; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert G. Ward; and three sisters, Dorothy Kelly, Connie Beaudry and Phyllis Day.
Mrs. Ward was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She worked as a waitress and cook for most of her life. She loved to sew, having made many of her own clothes. She enjoyed bowling and cooking, and was known to be a very thrifty, frugal and outspoken lady.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Rosewood Center in Grafton for their excellent care of Ethel.
There will be no funeral home visitation.
A graveside committal service will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 1 PM with Pastor Bennie Moran officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to gather at the cemetery no later than 12:45PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Mrs. Ward’s name please be made to the Alzheimer's Association of North Central WV, 1299 Pineview Dr., Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26505.
