Obituary of Doris Yvonne Scotchel

Doris Yvonne Scotchel of Delaware Ave., Westover, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Louis Ray Shaffer and the late Jessie (Nelson) Shaffer. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Mitchell, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren, Scott D. Mitchell and his wife Tonya of Morgantown, and Kristen Y. Clawges and her husband, David Clawges, Jr. of Charleston, SC; three great-grandsons, Bailey Mitchell, David Clawges, III and Parker J. Clawges; and one sister, Donna Day of Westover. Doris is also survived by her companion, Larry Hoffman of Westover Mrs. Scotchel was also previously married to Daniel Jackson, Jr.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Arthur Scotchel, and one sister, Louise Hall. Doris worked as a sales associate for many retail stores in the area in her younger years. She thoroughly enjoyed shopping, traveled extensively throughout the United States, and loved animals – especially her cats. At the request of Mrs. Scotchel and her family, a private committal service was held, followed by entombment in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover. Hastings Funeral Home of Morgantown assisted the family with the arrangements.
