Clarence Lloyd Tennant, Sr. age 81 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 2, 2014. He peacefully left this world with his loving wife Betty by his side holding his hand, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
He was born in Blacksville, WV, the son of the late Florence and Dana Tennant. He was preceded in death by one brother Lawrence Tennant, one sister Mary Tennant, and one son Clarence Tennant, Jr.
Surviving are his wife Betty Jo Tennant of 43 years, and seven children: Bonnie (Harold) Knotts of East Palestine, Ohio, Louise (Dave) Jenness of Strasburg, VA, Edward "Ed" Wilmoth of Morgantown, Dot McClung of Westover, James (Nichole) of Whitehouse Station, NJ, Scott Tennant of Morgantown and Michele Kelly of Morgantown. He is also survived by one brother Donald "Don" Tennant and wife Mary Ann of Core, WV. He was fondly known as "Pa Paw" and is survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He proudly served his country during the Korean War. Clarence worked as a coal miner in the Blacksville Number One mine as a Forman and Electrician, Deron as Plant Manager, and was the Owner and Operator of Universal Maintenance and Machine.
He was an active member of Morgantown First Church of the Nazarene serving in many capacities of ministry in the church for over 40 years.
The family would like to express their appreciation for exceptional care by Dr. Shrader and his team at Family Medicine, the 9th Floor Neurology Department and nurses at Ruby, and to Hospice Care Corporation.
Visitation will be held at Morgantown First Church of Nazarene at the corner of Oak and Garrison Street on Monday, May 5 from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, May 6 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Blacksville Cemetery. Full military funeral rites will be conducted at the graveside.
