Sergeant Christopher W. Dalton, 39, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Ruby Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Morgantown on April 12, 1975, son of Cheryl L. McMillen Dalton of Morgantown and the late Jonathan Wayne Dalton.
He was a member of renovate church in Fairmont.
Chris was a Sergeant with the Morgantown Police Department with 14 years of service. He loved spending time with his family, hunting with his children, working on old cars with his brother and uncle, farming with his daughter, and playing his guitar with family and friends.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 15 years Jennifer E. Chipps Dalton; children, Emily and Connor Dalton; Paternal grandmother, Joan Dalton; maternal grandparents, Junior and Barbara McMillen; brother, Joshuah W. Dalton; uncles and aunts; Darrell & Deborah Dalton, Bradly & Cindy Dalton, Gary & Brenda Metheny, Doug & Lisa McMillen; cousins, Andrew, Justin and Thadius Dalton, Ashley McMillen, Alicia Broyles, and Clayton McMillen. He is also survived by his wife’s family which he loved dearly.
Chris was preceded in death by his father and his paternal grandfather, Robert D. Dalton.
Family and friends will be received at Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church, 540 Fairmont Road, Westover Tuesday, May 20th from 1-8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, May 21st from 10:00a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00a.m. with Pastor John Carnes, his dear friend, officiating. Internment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Grafton Road, Morgantown.
In lieu of flowers, a trust fund for his children will be set up at a later date.
