Mary D. Brown, 71, formerly Mary Donnan, of Morgantown passed away at home Sunday, September 28, 2014.
She was born June 22, 1943 to Francis and Rose Donnan in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She was the oldest of six with three sisters and two brothers. Mary was Aunt to 18 nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
She came to Morgantown when she was 29 after meeting her husband, Richard Lee Brown. They had one daughter together, Rosemary Lee Brown before he passed away. She went to work at Ruby Memorial Hospital for 24 years and Health South Rehab. For 8 years. Mary was known as a very hard working woman who loved a good laugh. She only retired fully to battle breast and bladder cancer, which she did successfully.
Mary was a devoted nanny to her only grandson, Logan Lemine. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, long talks with her sister in Northern Ireland and brother in Wales. She was an avid reader, and football fan who would do anything for anyone in need. She was a loving mother to Rosemary, mother-in-law to Matthew Brett Lemine, and sister-in-law to Thomas G. Brown all of Morgantown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister Peggy and one brother Eddie who passed in June of this year.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Friday, Oct. 3, from 1-3 and 6-8p.m. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7:30p.m.Friday. Visitation will continue at St. Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, October 4th from 9:00a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. John V. DiBacco as celebrant. In accordance with her wish’s cremation services will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date.
