We are honored to serve the family of Myrtle Virginia Murray Goodwin, 89 of Nicholson Loop, Morgantown, who passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born in Morgantown on April 23, 1925, a daughter of the late Lester "Nick" Murray and the late Ada (Nicholson) Murray. Survivors include four children, Juanita Dalton and husband Don, Roger Lee Goodwin and wife Ilene, Geneva Hall and husband Roger and Diane Hall all of Morgantown; seven grandchildren, Scott Dalton and wife Tammy, Eric Dalton and wife Jodi, Marilyn Cress and husband Dale Cress, Jr., Brannon Goodwin and fiancé Bonnie McCollough, Michelle Lazzell and husband Walter, Monica Everly and husband John, and Chad Hall and wife Michelle; 21 great-grandchildren, Drake, Ryder, Sabastian, Alivia, Alyssa, Luke and Talen Dalton, Zach Cress and fiancé Sabrina Simms, Jozy Casteel and husband Jeremy, Zane Cress, Zale Cress; Alana, Nikayla, Talia and Lakelynn Goodwin, Waltie Lazzell, Taylor Lazzell and wife Wendy, Jourdin Lazzell, Briggs Lazzell, Jacob McMillen and Raquel Everly; a great-great-grandson, Hunter Lazzell; an unborn and eagerly expected great-great-granddaughter, Emzley Casteel; four siblings, Wanda Dailey and husband Gene Davison of Morgantown, Franklin Murray of Clyde, OH, and Fred Murray and wife Wilma, and Loretha Rice and husband Ernie all of Morgantown; a sister-in-law, Hazel Summers; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis P. “Tommy” Goodwin on December 31, 1992;a great-grandson, Zeth Cress; a sister, Loretta Murray; two sons-in-law, Thomas Hall and Kenneth Wyne; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Murray. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed working on her family farm and in her garden, quilting, making apple butter from her stove top, canning and going to family gatherings. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Saturday, November 8th from 7-9 PM. Mrs. Goodwin will be moved to the Nicholson Chapel Church on Summers School Rd. in Morgantown, where she will lay in repose on Sunday, November 9th from 3 PM and until the time of the funeral service on Monday, November 10th at 2 PM with Pastor Dan Agnew officiating.
