Gwendolyn Ann Hemmann, 88, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015, in Green Bay, WI. Born June 27, 1926, Gwen was a lifelong resident of Morgantown, WV until July, 2011 when she moved to Green Bay. She was known for her love of Mountaineer sports (especially basketball) bridge and dancing in her younger years. She had a vibrant personality and quick wit that lit up any room she entered. You would always find her sending encouraging cards and letters to friends and family during their difficult or celebratory times. After graduating from Morgantown Business College, she worked at WVU & Coombs & Hemmann Construction Inc. She was also a volunteer at Mon General Hospital, the polls and other church events. She was a member of Morgantown's Spruce St United Methodist Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church in WI. She was a loving wife, daughter in law, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Gwen was the daughter of the late Charles Evans and Violet Hall Evans Higgins. Her late husband, well known businessman and the love of her life of 63 years, Donald C. Hemmann, preceded her in death in 2011 as did her brother, Bill Higgins in the 60's. She is survived by her 2 daughter's - Susan (Gary) Katuin of Green Bay WI and Karen McClain of Richmond,VA, 4 grandchildren: Elizabeth McClain, Sarah (Philip) McLillard, Daniel Curtis McClain,II and James Joseph Carl McClain, 7 great grandchildren and sister Joyce (Ron) Mann. Gwen was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her family and friends. Her vivacious life will always be remembered as a blessing in ours. We wish to thank Terry and the entire NEW Curative staff, Wyndemere Estate, St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice in Green Bay for their loving care of our mother. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV Friday January 16th from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 17th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
