I remember going to she and Fred's home, along with my little sister, for the Thanksgiving of 1993. I was a full-time babysitter for their son's family and I considered Bill's family the closest thing to a beautiful TV family. I remember how incredibly generous and welcoming she was, to two young girls whose family was so impoverished that we had nowhere else to go for the holiday.
I wish I could have been less in awe at the time, so that I could've told she and Fred how much that day meant to us.
The world is a lesser place without you, ma'am. Bill, David, Cindy--my sincerest (if belated) condolences. I feel guilty for missing her funeral.
Thank all of you for treating two young girls like family, when we desperately needed that.
