Herbert Ray Williams, 65, of Sutton, previously of Baltimore, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at home with family.
Herbert was born in Baltimore on April 18, 1949, the son of Mary Lucille Williams and the late Herbert William Williams.
Herbert spent most of his life in Baltimore, working briefly as a cab driver while earning a certificate in nursing and went on to work in nursing homes.
Herbert, “Herbie”, was a kind and caring Christian, always eager to help those in need. His hobbies included antiquing, glassware and gardening. He loved animals too, especially cats and dogs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother, his sister Mary Ann Williams, his aunts Sylvia Williams, Louella Brackenridge and Alma Toby, his nephew John Gruzs and his niece Anna Lee Welch.
He was preceded in death by his father and his sister Patricia Gruzs.
In accordance with Herbert’s wishes, a private family service was held and cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herbert’s memory to Braxton County Animal Shelter and Hospice Care Corporation.
