Obituary of Shirley Ruth Bellman

Shirley Ruth Bellman, 90, of Morgantown, departed this earth, August 17, 2015, to be with the Love of her Life, Bill, on their 68th wedding anniversary. She was born August 12, 1925 in East Brady, PA, a daughter of the late Isadore and Goldie Levine Ackerman. She is also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Bellman.
She was Jewish by faith and belonged to the Tree of Life Congregation in Morgantown. She was also a member of the Tree of Life Sisterhood and was well loved by all that knew her. She was co-owner of Bill’s Laundry and Cleaners for more than 50 years. In her free time, she loved puzzles, having taught and played MahJong for more than 50 years. Additionally, Shirley was a paid volunteer as a standardized patient at WVU Hospitals for 25 years, worked with the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, BOPARC, and the Senior Center. She also loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and recently attended a game that lasted 9 hours with a two hour rain delay.
She is survived by her sons: Steven Bellman and his wife Kandance, and Bruce Bellman; daughter: Terri Lynn Ward and her husband Jeff; her grandchildren: Robin Yost, Kevin Bellman, Eric Bellman, Adam Bellman, Stephanie Bellman Gunnoe, Diana Harris, Tanya Whitlock, Julie Wagner, Kayla Bellman and Josh Ebert; sister: Dolores “Dolly” Marcus; brother, Robert “Bobby” Ackerman; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Matt Bellman; one great-grandchild, Alexa Harris; siblings: Joseph Edward “Eddie” Ackerman, Esther A. Leff, and Lenora “Lindy” Yannotti.
The family respectfully asks that flowers be omitted, and that contributions in Shirley’s memory please be made to your favorite charity.
Friends and family will be received at the Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Tuesday, August 18th from 5-8 PM and again on Wednesday, August 19th from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM with Rabbi Joseph Hample officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
The family wishes to express a Special Thank You to the nurses and staff in the MICU 5th Floor at Ruby Memorial Hospital, special nurses on 10E at Ruby Memorial Hospital, and special doctors at both Family Practice and The Medical Group for all of their care and compassion during her illness.
