Our deepest condolences for the loss of a wonderful neighbor, mother, grandmother and friend.
From the first day that we moved into the neighborhood 20 years ago, Kitty was there to greet us and welcome us. Her welcoming attitude continued to the very end, and we will all miss her.
When our kids were little, the only basketball hoop was in Kitty's backyard, and the kids would go out and shoot baskets, and I went out to tell them that it's not our yard and they would have to ask if it was OK. They said that Kitty had already come out and said that they could come and shoot anytime, no need to ask again. That is the kind of neighbor we had we for 20 years.
Her house and yard was always bustling with kids from several families riding trikes and bikes, playing ball and generally just running around. Kitty was the rock of the neighborhood.
I'm sure she will still be looking down at us all from heaven.

I was sorry to hear of Mrs. Zachar's passing (I always called her Mrs. Zachar!) but I know she had a good long life. I always enjoyed seeing her again when I would run into her occasionally around town. She always made me feel like part of the family and I have so many great memories of your house. I loved that secret back staircase, the mysterious attic, Mr. Zachar's workshop, and most of all watching TV in the sunroom. One thing I thought funny was that she would have multiple cigarettes going in ashtrays all over the house! One of the best things I ever ate was her homemade fried donuts, and I loved all her Cadillacs. She was a special part of my childhood.
I am back living on Riverview Drive; my older kids are grown but I have 2 teenage stepboys and an 8 year old daughter who is amazing! I hope you can all meet Caitlin and my other kids someday, and I could only wish that they could have a second mom as great as Mrs. Zachar!
