Michael Joseph Nikolaus, 64, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Ruby
Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 16, 1951, in Wheeling, WV, the son of Evelyn Logamarcino Nikolaus and the late George William Nikolaus.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a retired ordained minister, and an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan. Prior to his work in the ministry Michael was in the hotel management business.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a sister, Susan (Nino) Enkiri of Bethany Beach, DE; a brother, David (Teresa) Nikolaus of St. Louis, MO; a nephew, Eric Nikolaus, a niece, Ally Nikolaus, both of Chicago, IL.
Michael was a kind and generous man with an amazing wit and sense of humor whose mission in life was to help others. For many years he served as a hospice chaplain and in recent years volunteered at the Community Kitchen in Morgantown.
In keeping with Michael's wishes his memorial service will be the Michael Nikolaus Celebrity Roast to be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 456 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV, on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Monica Styron officiating.
The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary people of the Hospice Care Corporation and the staff of the Hospice Unit at Ruby Hospital for making his last days comfortable, peaceful, and filled with laughter.
