Obituary of Don Dayton Benson

Don Dayton Benson, 90, of Morgantown, passed away at home on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Don was born in Morgantown on July 25, 1925, the son of the late George Warden Benson and the late Burhl (Engleheart) Benson. Don was a graduate of Morgantown High School, and was a long standing member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morgantown. He went on to enlist into the Marine Corps on September 28, 1943 and served in the South Pacific Campaign during WWII until November 15, 1945. He then returned home and married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Ann Farson. They were married for 70 years. Don has also always been a avid hunter and fisherman. Don and his twin brother, owned and operated Benson Brother's Painting in Morgantown for 55 years. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Patricia (Farson) Benson; son, Michael (Donna) Benson of Cleveland, OH; daughters: Sharon (Michael) Broun of Athens, GA, Amy (Riley) Barb of Canaan Valley, WV; 4 grandchildren: Michael (Jennifer) Broun and Matthew (Emily) Broun of Athens, GA, Nick Fiorini of Jackson, WY, and Catherine Fiorini of Canaan Valley, WV; three great-grandchildren: Michael Broun, III, Charlotte Broun and Emerson Broun; 4 Nieces; and 7 Nephews. He is also survived by his identical twin brother, Lonnie Benson, Morgantown, WV and Terry Benson, Hagerstown, MD. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Roland and brother Max Benson. In accordance with his wishes, Hastings Funeral Home has provided cremation services. Friends and family will be received Saturday, July 23 from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 456 Spruce Street. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Monica Styron officiating.
