Ann Faulkner Pahl, 65, extraordinary wife, mother, and friend of many, of Morgantown passed

She was born November 1, 1950, in Martinsburg, a daughter of the late Whiting Carlyle and
Virginia (Moler) Faulkner.
Ann was a graduate of Penn Hall, Chambersburg, PA; West Virginia University; and Fairmont
State University. She worked as a registered nurse at the Monongalia County Health
Department. In that capacity, Ann was as much social worker as nurse for her patients. Ann’s
passions were her family, hiking, her flowers, and watching the wildlife and new calves on her
farm in the Stewartstown community, where she resided for almost 40 years, having made many
friends of her neighbors.
Ann was a cradle Episcopalian and an active member of St. Thomas à Becket Episcopal Church,
where she was most active in the outreach programs helping others less fortunate, which is
indicative of Ann’s entire life. She participated with many community social service
organizations, including Scott’s Run Settlement House, Empty Bowls Monongalia County,
Habitat for Humanity, and the WVU Children’s Hospital, giving selflessly of her time and many
talents. Her deep, kind heart touched everyone around her, and her beauty, zest, nerve, and
determination were inspiring always.
Ann is survived by her husband of 43 years, Timothy L. Pahl; her son and daughter-in-law
Andrew and Erin Pahl of Winchester, VA; her sister Mary Boyd Faulkner (Beezie) Kearse of
Martinsburg; nephew and spouse Robert L. and Joy Kearse of Frederick, MD; niece and goddaughter
Katherine Carlyle (Kacy) Kearse of Martinsburg; niece and spouse Elizabeth Kearse
and Nathan Baturka of Reisterstown, MD; brother-in-law and sister-in-law David E. and Susan
C. Pahl of Scott Depot, WV; nephew and spouse Jason E. and Tammy Pahl of Culloden, WV;
and several grand nieces and nephews: Virginia Rogus of Martinsburg; Christopher Joseph (CJ)
Rogus of Martinsburg; and Mason and Mitchell Baturka of Reisterstown, MD.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her grandparents; father-in-law and
mother-in-law Donald E. and Frankie W. Pahl of St. Albans, WV; brother Charles James
Faulkner, IV, of Martinsburg; and sister Virginia Faulkner Fleming of Richmond.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home. A
memorial service will be held at St. Thomas à Becket Episcopal Church, 75 Old Cheat Rd.,
Morgantown, on Friday, September 30th at 4:30 PM with the Rev. Julie B. Murdoch officiating.
