Obituary of Ruth Young

Ruth B. Young, 96, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in Indiana. Ruth was born in Cabell County, West Virginia on March 3, 1920 to the late Ida Thelma (Lovejoy) Berry and Creath David Berry. Lovingly referred to as “Grammy,” Ruth worked as a real estate professional for many years, spending most of her free time reading, gardening, and cooking for her friends and family. She loved flowers, small dogs, and birds. “Grammy” was intensely loved and will be missed by many, many people; including her daughter, Patricia (Bob) Brashear, her granddaughters: Danielle, Kathryn, Dodi, and Gretchen; her grandsons: Lyndal, Chris, Skip, Ryan and Justin; her 22 great-grandchildren; and her 2 great-great-grandchildren. However, awaiting her arrival in Heaven, are her parents, multiple siblings, and her 2 beloved daughters, Judy and Jerri. The family finds great peace in knowing “Grammy” is reuniting with her daughters in Heaven and is dancing a jig in a bed of orchids and belly laughing with the angels. She was truly a one-of-a-kind lady who made an impression on everyone she encountered. Heaven gained a feisty, strong, hilarious woman with a heart of pure gold. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St, Morgantown, on Monday, October 3 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Shirley Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
