M/Sgt (retired) Ronald Blake Lee of Lawrence, PA passed away on October 13, 2016. Ron had been battling Parkinson’s disease for approximately four years. Ron was born in Manheim, WV on March 28, 1938 to the late Arthur and Ercel Lee. Raised in Morgantown, Ron attended University High School and graduated from Salem College in Clarksburg, WV with a B.S. in Business Administration. Ron was a patriot that proudly served 21 years in the United States Army. This included two tours in Vietnam as a combat medic. He became a decorated war hero, earning three bronze stars and medals for acts of merit and heroism in combat. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved nothing more than helping and caring for his family and multitude of friends and neighbors. Ron attended Faith Chapel Community Church in Lawrence, PA. Previously, he attended Goshen Baptist Church in Morgantown, WV and was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church in Wheeling, WV. Ron was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Additionally, Ron was previously the commander of the American Legion in Morgantown, a member of the Mt. Olive Lions Club, a member of Mountaineers for Responsible Government, and a proud member of the NRA. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Wilda (McDonald) Lee; two daughters, Ronda Lee Veltri, and Paula B. Lee-Ryan and her husband Mark Ryan; two sons Ronald Blake Lee Jr. and his wife Leslie, and Roger Craig Harvey and his wife Sharon. Ron was also a proud and beloved grandfather to seven grandchildren: C.J. Harvey, Zachary Ryan, Justin Lee, Rachel Veltri, Luke Ryan, Angela Veltri, and Garrett Harvey. Ron is also survived by siblings: Beatrice Cramer, Gary Romec, and Theresa Belasko. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Phyllis Shields, Barbara Mayfield, Joe Lee, and Wayne Lee. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Monday Oct. 17th from 4 – 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday Oct 18th from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastors James O'Brien and Ed Thurmond officiating. A private interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date.
