Gary, my sister Judy Dlugos saw the obituary in the newspaper and let me know. I then let Bill and our sons, Greg and Matt, know as well. We are all so sad to hear this news. It's been a long time since I've seen you, and I didn't know Gary, but I just wanted to let you know we care and are sorry to hear of your loss. Gary, I am so so sorry for your loss! I couldn't believe it when I read the paper. I realize the funeral has started and I am sorry I was unable to make it. I actually just look at JR's Facebook page. My heart is broken for you. Open your arms........I'm sending you the biggest hugs I have.

It is sad to loose a fellow Mohegan .Have not talked to you for a long time. I've known you since Middle school I remember having science class with Mr. Shoaf and many other memories. This tells you that life is to short and you should never take anything for granted. I'm not sure of how you have died, But you are now watching over the rest of our class. Dear Mr. Cicchenilli, Savannah and family- I was heartbroken to hear this news. I have no doubt JR was special to every single person in our 2004 class because he was so much fun to be around. I often wonder how me and him and a few others got to walk across that stage for graduation with all the cutting up, but we did it. Your son will always be present in mine and many others memories. It was always a pleasure to see you and your beautiful wife visit for dinner at the waterfront hotel bar.

For a teacher, the death of a student is next to the loss of her own child. At least, that is the way I feel at the news of J.R.'s passing.
J.R. was one of my most memorable sixth grade students. His ready smile and intelligent brown eyes are still clear in my memory even after all these years. Savannah, I can especially share your grief because I, too, lost a sibling. I know how you will miss J.R. as will all of your family.
I still use the hot plate mat and the kitchen hand towel that your grandmother made as a gift when I taught you two and now they will have a special meaning to me.
I hold my memories of J.R. in my heart and I know that yours of him will give you comfort as time goes by.

I am so very sorry to hear of JR's passing. We met in 2004 in Ocean City and remained in touch over the years. When I attended WVU, JR was always there for me, and I am forever grateful for the memories and times we shared. I enjoyed talking with JR about his many cars, a passion we both shared. My heart breaks with this news, and I am sending my thoughts and prayers to his family.

Gary and Savannah, I'm so very sorry for the pain you're feeling. I can remember J.R. and Savannah running around the neighborhood like it was yesterday. J.R. sent me a friend request on Facebook a few years ago and I always enjoyed his posts, which usually centered around cars or fishing with his grandpa and vacations in Memphis. I've moved out of state and will be unable to attend the funeral, but my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Gary,
I can't imagine how much it hurts losing a son, but our hearts go out to you. There was a sentiment from a friend when I lost my brother that I'll share; "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal".

I miss my boy so much. I know he's in a better place, but way too young. He always called me "Ma", "mom", or "mother" when he didn't like what I had to say. It tickled me.
