Marie Victoria Orlando Bolyard
Marie Bolyard of Suncrest died Monday, January 23, 2017 at her home with family at her side.
She was born April 19, 1927 in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Domenico Antony (Tony) Orlando and Renata Sampaolesi Orlando. Marie was the last remaining of the Orlando family.
She spent the early years of her life in Marion County, West Virginia while her parents operated the Superior Supply Store. Along with her parents, Marie, her sisters Lena and Nancy, and her brother Edward, worked tirelessly serving classic Italian meals to their customers for the next 53 years. She and her brother were the last to operate the family business. Following her retirement, Marie stayed active cooking for family events, gardening and decorating her home.
Marie was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, active in the Catholic Daughters, Columbiana Lodge, Sons of Italy and a lifetime member of Monongalia General Hospital Auxiliary. She was active in fund raising for the Monongalia General Hospital Ball of the Year and Monongalia Arts Center.
Surviving her are her daughters Starlyn Baxter, Vicki Cosner (Edgar) and Carolyn Hizak (Steve); her son, Charles E. and wife Annalia; four grandchildren, Rachel DeBacker (Jason), Jason Weaver, Kiersten Hizak and Kelsey Hizak; two great grandchildren, Mark and Sawyer DeBacker; nephews Rick Fortuna and Anthony Fortuna; nieces Renee Tonon Witt (John) and Lisa Fortuna.
In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Bolyard; sisters, Lena Tonon and Nancy Fortuna; brother, Edward; brothers-in-law Robert Tonon and Ernest Fortuna; son-in-law Mark Baxter; granddaughter Jennifer Baxter and nephew Bobby Tonon.
The family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staffs of Monongalia General Hospital, Mapleshire Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Morgantown Hospice, and most importantly, Michelle, all of whom provided Marie with excellent care during her final days.
