Obituary of Raymond Joseph Lovett
Raymond J. Lovett, 67, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born August 27, 1949, in Darby, PA, a son of the late Joseph A. and Jean (Blackman) Lovett.
Ray attended Cornell University, University of Wisconsin and Arizona State University where he earned his PhD in Analytical Chemistry. In addition to working in industry and teaching, he published numerous scientific papers and was a technical environmental consultant, most recently involved in acid mine drainage cleanup.
His hobbies included genealogical research, civil war history, bird watching, blogging and travel.
Ray is survived by his wife, Leslie; a son and spouse, Cuyler and Lauren Lovett and grandchildren Nora and Curren of Haddonfield, NJ; a daughter, Lisa Lovett of Philadelphia; a sister and spouse, Elisabeth and Robert Deeble and nephew Josef of Middlebury, VT; many cousins, and his cat.
Cremation services were provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A private family remembrance gathering will be planned for a later date.
