Obituary of Ray Russell Selby
Ray Russell Selby, Jr. passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at his home surrounded by his four girls.
He was the son of the late Ray R. Selby, Sr. and Dessie Dunn Selby.
Ray was born January 22, 1928 in Morgantown.
He was a retired truck driver. Our dad drove truck most of his life starting at the age of 15 hauling produce out of Pittsburgh, then moving on to Osgood Bus Line, Sterling Faucet, Clawage Transfer and retiring from Lonestar Cement.
Ray was a WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1946-1947, with accommodations. He was active with the American Legion Post 2, and continued to support our military through various charities. He loved the outdoors and working on his farm.
He is survived by his four daughters, Maurena Radford, Robin (Byron) Dalton who was more of a son instead of son-in-law, Tracy Stevens, and Jodi (Shawn) DeVall; six grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Metheney, Brynn Dalton, Ashley (Pedro) Nicolas, Hillary (Jamie) Cain, Matthew Stevens and his fiancé, Melanie Bartolovich, and Levi DeVall; four great-grandchildren, Katie and Taylor Pechinko, and Jacob and Coalton Cain, all of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Zeda Everly Selby; two brothers, Lloyd Selby and Clyde (Sara) Selby; one sister, Else Selby Greathouse; and one great-grandson, Jaxton Nicolas.
Family and friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Tuesday, June 13th from 4-8 PM and again on Wednesday, June 14th from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
