Obituary of Victoria Jean Jenkins
Victoria Jean Jenkins, 80, of Bruceton Mills, WV, formerly of Waitman Street, Morgantown, arrived at her heavenly home June 21, 2017.
Jeanie was born in 1937 in Fairmont, WV to the late Victor & Estella Schmidt Tatterson.
She graduated from East Fairmont High School and went to work at Westinghouse until she married her sweetheart, J. Edwin Jenkins, in August of 1958. Ed and Jean made their home in Morgantown, WV, where they raised their children, Crystal & Mark. Jean also worked as a kindergarten aide at 2nd Ward and Cheat Lake Elementaries.
Nanny adored her family, and was a shining example of the Proverbs 31 woman. She was a member of the Morgantown Church of Christ. She enjoyed baking and was famous for her rhubarb pie and strawberry jelly. She welcomed everyone at her table especially during the holidays. She was a meticulous quilter, accepting nothing less than a perfect stitch.
Jeanie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 59 years, J. Edwin "Ed" Jenkins, former Principle of MHS; her sister Shirley Cole and husband Al, of Fairmont, WV; her daughter Crystal Reynolds and husband Tim, of Terra Alta, WV; and her son Mark Jenkins and wife Sheila, of Bruceton Mills, WV. Her legacy of love lives on through her grandchildren: Holli (Nathan) Chapman, Brooke (Revel) Williams, Caleb & Shawnee Jenkins; her great grandchildren Devante, Carter, & Serena, as well as her extended family.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Sunday, June 25 from 1-4PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 26 at 10AM until the time of service at 11AM with Pastor Matt Lowe and Ron Williams officiating. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Jeanie's name to the Morgantown Church of Christ, 361 Scott Ave, Morgantown, WV 26508.
