Obituary of Dana Loretta Nicholson
Dana Loretta Nicholson, 89, of Summers School Road passed away July 8, 2017. She was born March 3, 1928, a daughter of the late Henry Howard and Zella Mae Nicholson. Her grandparents were William Elza and Jane Adeline Nicholson; and Abraham and Amanda (Abe & Mandy) Murray.
She attended Burns Chapel Church all of her life, where she was a member of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS). She enjoyed helping with their activities, especially making apple butter and Easter eggs. She enjoyed watching butterflies, hummingbirds, rainbows and sunsets. She also loved to watch Gunsmoke and Matlock, but most of all, she enjoyed working in her yard.
She is survived by three sisters Edith Burns, Maxine Hall and Marlene Burns; and numerous nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Oscar Nicholson, Willard (Pete) Nicholson, Kenneth (Buck) Nicholson and infant Warren Gay Nicholson; four sisters: Mildred (Millie) Morris McMillen, Opal (Sis) Murray, Esther Carpenter and Mary Murray; and dear friend Michael Gasper.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Monday, July 10th from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Visitation will continue at Burns Chapel United Methodist Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown on Tuesday, July 11th from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
