Obituary of Harold Leonard Fizer
Harold Leonard Fizer, 88, of Morgantown completed his earthly journey on his birthday.
He was born July 8, 1929 in Kingwood, WV to the late Robert Lincoln and Bessie Lee Adams Fizer. Harold was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Harold was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII. He was a journeyman mould maker for 21 ½ years at Beaumont Glass factory and retired after 10 years from Morgantown Machine and Hydraulics as a 1st class machinist.
Harold spent many weekends happily wading the Capon River, fishing for trout or bass and always finding them. When he wasn't fishing, Harold could be found in his shop at home repairing lawnmowers, weed eater and chain saws, something he learned to do at the very early age of 13. He had a natural gift of being able to repair just about anything.
Being born right before the Great Depression and growing up at that time, Harold grew up to be a hard worker and instilled that in his children. He was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Morgantown.
Harold is survived by his children, Sandra Martin and husband, Harold (Hap), and Bruce Fizer and wife, Marty. A grandson, Trevor Fizer, two step-grandchildren; Patrick McGettigan and Sarah Keith and husband, LK, and their children Jordan and Mason. He is also survived by his beloved grant-fur baby, Tegan.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 2007, an infant son, two sisters and an infant brother.
Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Wednesday, July 12th from 3-5 & 7-9 PM and again on Thursday, July 13th from 10 Am until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Rev. Bruce Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
