Obituary of Ernest Everett Cowdery, Jr
Ernest E. Cowdery, Jr., 92, of Westover, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 13th at Morgantown Health and Rehab Center. He was born March 31, 1925 in East Liverpool, OH, a son of the late Ernest E. and Flossie (Wine) Cowdery.
He served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 548 in Morgantown and retired as an electrician from General Electric after 30 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and was an avid Mountaineer fan.
"Poppop" is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty Ann (Ball) Cowdery and her son, Terry Spiroff and his fiancé Cindy; sons, David and Kenneth Cowdery; and numerous grandchildren, including Tiffany Spiroff-Walstrom and her husband Corey.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Thrasher.
In keeping with his wishes, a private family committal service will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Morgantown Health and Rehab and Ruby Memorial Hospital for all the care and support they provided.
