Please share a memory of William L. "Pete" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

God reached out and took Pete by the hand and led him safely home on Sunday morning, November 19th, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Pete was born in Sabraton,WV on January 13, 1926 to Joseph R. Foor and Erma B. (Shoemaker) Foor.

He served in the US Navy during WWII on LST 1028 and the AP USS Lyon and received the Purple Heart after injuries sustained during the battle in Lingayen Gulf, Philippines.

He later owned and operated his own business “Texaco Service Center” on University Ave for 18 years.  He retired with 20 years of service as a Correctional Officer from the Federal Bureau of Prisons  and 20 years as deputy assessor with Monongalia County Assessor’s Office.

He attended the Morgantown Bible Church on Brookhaven Road, was a member of the

Retired Federal Employees Assoc and a member of VFW Post 548.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time camping and fishing at the family summer camp on the Cheat River.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who loved their Pa Pa dearly. He loved playing his guitar. He also enjoyed spending time with his church family…especially on gospel sing night. Pete had a kind and giving heart, a lively sense of humor, and a deep devotion to God.  His family will miss him deeply.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonna; sisters Joann (Mrs. Bob West) and Dorothy (Mrs. Kelsey Raber).

The family would like to thank Dr. Alan Hess for his heart felt care over the years and also the care that Morgantown Hospice had provided the last 2 weeks.

Friends will be received at Morgantown Bible Church, 1407 Brookhaven Rd., Morgantown, on Tuesday from 4-8 and again on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Jim Cooley II officiating.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Full military funeral rites will be provided at the graveside.
