Obituary of Jean Ann Toren
Jean Ann Toren, 92, of Morgantown, WV, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Jean was born in Covington, Kentucky, daughter of the late Ralph P. Halloran and Jeannette C. (Hennessey) Halloran.
Jean was employed as an administrative assistant at West Virginia University in the Department of Geology and Geography and at the Law School for a total of 14 years. She had a lifelong enjoyment of the arts. She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her very dear family: children Mary J. Toren of Tucson, Arizona, Thomas G. Toren of Berkeley, California, Robert J. Toren of Oakland, California, Joan T. Toren Schmidt and husband, Jeffrey, of Sparks, Nevada, Anne F. Toren of Morgantown, Beth J. Toren of Morgantown, two grandchildren Lisa J. Schmidt of Tahoe City, California and Ethan J. Schmidt of Boise, Idaho; one sister, J. Shirley Halloran of Ohio and one sister-in-law, Judy A. Halloran of Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, J. Richard “Dick” Toren, in 2013 and her two brothers, Jack and Ralph.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, Monday, December 4, from 3 to 7pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Tuesday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev S. Kumar Reddimasu as celebrant. Honoring Jean’s wishes, she will be cremated and later her ashes will be interred in St. Mary’s Peace Mausoleum.
