Obituary of Richard Allen Petro
Richard Allen Petro, 73, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Mon Health Medical Center. He was born October 5, 1944 in Plainfield, NJ, a son of the late John and Florence Petro.
He worked for American Home Products for over 35 years. His passion in life was enjoying his grandkids and most recently his great grandson. He also was a very spirited sports fan, especially the Mountaineers and Giants. He loved watching soccer of all ages.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie; daughters, Denise Kennell and Brenda Nickel, both of Morgantown. He is also survived by his wonderful grandchildren, Michael Cooper and his companion Amanda of South Carolina, Trisha Butterworth and her companion Brendan of Massachusetts, Presley Weese and husband Nathan of Morgantown, Sean Cooper and his wife Courtney of Florida, Philip Nickel of Morgantown, Annie Burns and her husband Drake of Pennsylvania, Emily Kennell and her companion Will of Washington, and Blake Nickel of Maryland. He was very proud of all of them! Also left behind is a very special great grandson, Maxon Willard Boyd Weese—he loved his pap! He will be sadly missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother and his father and mother in law, Willard and Twila Helmick.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, December 8th, from 5-9 PM and again on Saturday, December 9th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
