Obituary of Mamie Martha Emerson
Mamie Emerson, 92, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at Monongalia General Hospital of Morgantown, WV.
Mamie was born in Bruceton Mills on October 14, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles F. Myers and Sebilla Ellen (Forman) Myers.
Mamie was a life long member of Sabraton Baptist Church and up until recently, she cleaned the church for 33 years. She was very active in the church and was famous for her harvard beets and sweat tea. She enjoyed cooking shows, gardening, quilting, crocheting, and was a talented seamstress for thousands of people. She dearly loved all of her friends, family, and church.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Emerson) Nestor and husband George “Ed”; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and 3 siblings.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ray; one son, Thomas “Tom” Emerson and 6 siblings.
Friends and family will be received at Sabraton Baptist Church, 1641 Sabraton Avenue, Sabraton, WV on Thursday, January 18th, 2018 from 3pm to 7pm. Visitation will continue Friday, January 19th from 10am until the time of the service at 11am with Pastor Scott Whetzel officiating.
Interment will follow in Lawnwood Cemetery, Morgantown.
