Obituary of Carl Emerald Dalton
Carl “Tommy” Dalton, 90, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018. He was born November 29, 1927 in Morgantown, a son of the late Solomon and Sadie Mae Dalton.
Mr. Dalton was the oldest living member of Burns Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a retired coal miner and in his free time, he was an avid deer hunter, bee keeper, and gardener.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol Law and her husband George, Rhonda Summers and her husband Blaine, Janet Poole, Linda Willis and her husband John, Kim Dalton and her husband Adam Meckley; sons, Durwood Dalton and his wife Connie and Keith Dalton and his wife Heather; siblings, Patty Hilling, Okey Dalton, Velma McDonald, and Ruby Kessler; brother in law, Allen McDonald; 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his special friends, Freda Corwin and Shawna Fanok.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Edith (McDonald) Dalton; daughter, Sherry Hilling; granddaughter, Lauren Law; son in law, Eldon Poole; siblings, Jacob, Eugene, Prentiss, Solomon, Jr., Marcella, Wilma, Opal, Rachel, Ann, and Melva.
Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Friends and family will be received at Burns Chapel United Methodist Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown, on Sunday, April 8th from 4 PM until the time of the funeral service on Monday, April 9th at 10 AM with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Cemetery.
