I was one of Mary's students. She had great patience and a wonderful work ethic that is missing today. May she rest in peace.

I have always considered Mary to be my mentor in Medical Technology. I worked with her very early in my career and the sense of professionalism she taught me has remained with me throughout my very long career. She was one in a million and I will always be grateful for her guidance and friendship. Mary had a wonderful gift of compassion for patients and always knew just the right thing to say. And the first thing she told her patients was "It's dangerous for me to draw your blood while you're chewing gum. You need to spit it out." And she said it with a straight face. What a great lady. Rest in peace my friend.

Mary was my first co-worker as I started my career as a Medical Technologist. I am convinced that I landed that job because I answered 2 questions correctly when interviewed by her: I responded that I did not chew gum and I liked classical music.
I learned many lessons from Mary, both professionally and for life in general. Because of her, I started saving for retirement the first year that I worked. It was not much, but she said it was best to get started and she was right. I missed her after she retired and was so sad to hear of her illness. God bless you and your families in you loss.
