To the Family of Timothy Pahl,
I had the privilege to know Tim, David and other family members over the years while being close to Don and Frankie Pahl in Charleston, WV. Tim and David's father, Don, and I were members of the Kanawha Kordsmen Barbershop Chapter and sang together for many years. Frankie and my wife, Eva, were supporting spouses in our hobby of barbershop quartet singing.
Please accept my condolences on the falling-asleep of Tim in the hope of resurrection into life-everlasting. May the peace of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ be with all of your family, and may Tim's memory be eternal!

Gail and I are so very sorry for your terrible loss. As a fellow co-worker with the Division of Forestry, I knew Tim as a kind, caring and diligent forestry professional. His work with landowners to implement management goals resulted in a more productive forest resource. The fruits of his labors will be visible for many years to come. His legacy is evident in the forests and farm he worked.
May the Lord hold all of you close and give you comfort in the times ahead. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers. With Deepest Sympathy.

Tim was my roommate at WVU, along with Rick Lowman and Harry Church. The four of us had wonderful times together, and I will never forget Tim's gentle, loving nature, and his engaging smile. His heart was as big as the outdoors that he loved so much. There isn't anything in the world he wouldn't do for you, his friendship was a true gift I will always treasure. In my mind now, I see that smile of his and feel his sweetness.
To his family and all of his friends, I express my sincere condolences, and hope that you find peace in good memories.
Rest in Peace, My Brother.

Remembering Tim
Remembering Tim is for us impossible without remembering Ann. They were a perfect pair. I remember their wedding on a snowy December day in the University Forest. Two young and impetuous college students head over heels in love. A couple of years after Tim and Ann were married, they helped Jan and I celebrate our wedding at Salt Sulphur Springs in Monroe County. Brother Dave and sister Sue were there and half a hundred other friends and family, and we sat on the front porch of the old house and sang Jackson Browne songs.
We all spent a lot of time together in those years, a good bit of it rambling around the backroads and mountains of Pocahontas County and thereabouts. Sitting on the tailgates of our trucks at Bald Knob. Taking the view. Sitting on the porch at Britton’s camp on the Greenbrier at Stony Bottom talking a summer night away. I remember Tim and I walking through the Sinks of Gandy. Tim wearing jeans and tennis shoes had been wet to knees the whole way in that bone cold water and was greatly amused when my hip waders proved too short in a deep pool just ten feet from the end. I remember Tim and Dave and I in Dave’s new truck sitting at a ford on the upper Shavers Fork one night, trying to gauge the flow of the river in the shine of the headlights. We had forded the river there in trucks before, but that night the water seemed to be running a little high. Dave said: “Should I go?” And here the accounts of the incident diverge. Tim and I always remembered saying, “No,” but Dave heard, “Go,” and he went. And we almost made it. After a seventeen mile all night walk to get off the mountain we arrived at Britton’s camp just as the sun was coming up. The camp is gone now, as is the old mill at Cass, and the fire tower on Gaudineer Knob, but I am certain the next time Jan and I visit these places, the memories they carry will still be there, perfectly intact and frozen in time.
On our back porch hangs a bronze wind bell made in Arcosanti, a long ago gift from Tim and Ann. The bell requires a bold breeze to get it started, but when it gets going, the high clear ring of it can be heard from a long way off. And now when we hear that bell ring, we will always think of Tim and Ann, two forever entwined souls passing on the wind.

I used to stop in for lunch at the Pahls when they lived near McKinley Junior High in St. Albans. Dave and I were learning to play our guitars way back then (before Rock&Roll). Tim was a well-behaved kid of about 8 or 9. Well, most of the time. I was always happy to see Tim over the years, visiting Dave & Susan. I was impressed that he was a forester. My little sister Nancy Harman became a forester many years later. Maybe Tim was an influence. We miss him and Ann.

Andrew, my sister is Marla Harriman. She work with your father through the DNR. I met your dad at a WVU Children’s Hospital log load function one time. And I remember him. Marla is so grieved by this loss. Over and over again she says what a sweet wonderful man he was. Please take some comfort from the fact that so many people loved and cared about him. And know that God has a special place for someone as good and wonderful as your father.
