My condolences to the family. I’ve known Brian since high school and we’ve been friends ever since. I have many great memories of all the fun times we had together. What I will remember most about Purk, as we called him, is his sense of humor and his smile. Brian loved to laugh and have a good time and his attitude was contagious. Brian was dealt a tough blow in life many years ago but he continued to live life the best he could as he so dearly loved his family. So even though you’re gone from this world you’ll never be forgotten and we can all bask in the many great memories we have of our dear friend Brian. Till we meet again Purk, God bless you brother.

My condolences to Lauren, Shelly, and the Purkey family. Brian and I went through the Federal Law Enforcement Academy together and then later became neighbors. Our kids grew up together and Brian was a good friend. I could always count on him if I needed him and he always had the tools I needed to borrow. Rest in peace.

My very deepest sympathies to all, most especially to Shelly, Missy and Kevin, and Lauren. Know that my heart and thoughts are with you all. Brian was a wonderful, very special man, and I was blessed to know him. Even after I moved to Nashville he kept in touch, checking in on me now and then, and I managed to see him during my visits back to Morgantown on several occasions. He brightened my life immensely, and I will miss him very much. One year for Valentine's Day he bought me a gift that I have cherished ever since - somewhere he found polished, heart-shaped precious stones of all varieties, and he said he picked each stone out individually...I have set those beautiful stones out every year on Valentine's Day on display, and will do so now, as a remembrance of his big heart. Love and prayers to you all...I so wish I could make it up for the service, but know I'll be there with you in thought.

Sorry for your loss. May the family find comfort through prayerful reliance on Jehovah, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the hearer of prayer and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials. 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4; Psalm 65:2.

Brian was an amazing friend growing up in Shady Spring, WV. We played Pee Wee football together and loved watching and listening to WV games. Would stay overnight after high school games when were kids.
I last saw Brian at a WV football game October 2016 and had such a great time talking about old times and us all posting great photos of our time.
He will missed by all who knew him and my thoughts are with his family.
