Obituary of Kathleen Shilling
Kathleen (Poffenberger) Shilling, 88, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown, WV.
Kathleen was born November 30, 1929, in Sharpsburg, MD., to the late Leonard Poffenberger and Sarah Churchey Poffenberger.
Kathleen was an office worker while living in Hagerstown, MD. After moving to Morgantown, WV with her husband and family, she was employed at Morgantown Paint Company where she worked for over 50 years and was known as “The Paint Lady”.
Kathleen attended the Sabraton Baptist Church for over 50 years and held many offices and sang in the choir. She taught the Sunday school class for teenagers for many years. Kathleen volunteered at nursing homes in Morgantown and their winter home in Florida.
She is survived by Sons and family, Gordon and Penny Shilling, Curtis and Paula Shilling and daughter Barbara Shilling and life friend Pat Berzito, and sister Alma Grams of Hagerstown, MD., grandchildren and family, Heath and Tressa, Isaac, Eli, and Sonya Shilling, Holly and Amelia Stillwagner and Heather Shilling, step granddaughters and family, Tonya, Ed, Nathaniel, Katie and Tessa Moore, Erica and Geoff Alexander.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Daughter in law Clidetta Shilling, Grandson Nathan Shilling and husband Berkeley Shilling.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Mapleshire Nursing and Rehab and WV Caring Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Monday, October 29, 2018, from 4 PM to 7 PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday, October 30 at Sabraton Baptist Church, 1641 Sabraton Avenue, Morgantown from 10 AM until the time of funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Whetzel and Nephew of Kathleen David Grams officiating. Following the funeral service, Kathleen with her husband Berkeley will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
