Peggy, Missy & family
I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of your beloved Coach MAC.
He taught me how to be a first class coach & human being.
One of the highlights of my athletic life was when I got to play a 2 vs 2 pick up B-ball game with him.
Coach MAC will be missed by many.

My deepest sympathies to Miss Peggy and family on the passing of a wonderful, charismatic man. I knew coach well in my Marriott days in Charleston, planning various needs for the MAC, and hosting the Mountaineer Classic out of town guests. W&L was always a talking point for us, as we were both grads. A finer man would be hard to find, and though I have not seen or spoken to him in years, I remember him fondly as a good friend and true gentleman.
Rest in Peace my friend.
Greg Haynes.

Coach Mac and I shared many a can of Root Beer XS energy drink and ate Cookie Dough Caramel Protein cars while we laughed at story after story about WVU basketball history and his coaching career. After 3 years of illness, I stopped by the MAC a couple of months ago, only to find he had retired and was ill himself. I'll miss your great passion, laughter and positive attitude my friend until we're reunited in Paradise.
God bless you and your beautiful family.

Gary was a great, great friend. We shared some very special times at many WVU football games. When I was president of the Letterman's Club, Gary was a great club "advisor"...always helpful and supportive. Gary was the reason I endowed an athletic scholarship and made a commitment to the Jerry West Society. I will always remember his incredible gifts of kindness, humor and story telling!! I will always cherish the great friendship we enjoyed for so many years. 1 John 2: 25 "And this is what he promises us... even eternal life". Peg and Missy, may His peace and presence surround you both today and the days ahead. In His Strong and Mighty Name and LGM! Tom

I first met Coach McPherson at a kids basketball camp in Richwood WV back in the 1970’s, and later got to follow him at WVU where I went to college. “Coach” was a wonderful man, great storyteller with an uncanny ability to remember your name, as I found out 10 years later when I spoke to Coach at a game in SC. My sympathies to the entire family. Missy, I hope you are doing ok.

Dear Peggy and Missy
Gary was more than a coach. He was a gentleman and he taught me so much about how to comport myself as an assistant coach.I learned so much from him when we were together in Cincinnati. After we left Cincinnati he always had a word of encouragement for me when I would see him on the road recruiting.
When I came to Morgantown, he welcomed me and he was so helpful in getting me to understand the importance of the Mountaineer Caravan.
I won’t be able to get down to Morgantown but please know that I am thinking about you two and praying that God eases your grief temporarily at least so that you can appreciate what a great man Gary was and how many lives he touched.
Love,
Mike Brown
