Patsy Tongate Simmons, 80, of Morgantown passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born in DeKalb, Illinois, on January 27, 1938, the daughter of the late Nick and Bessie M. Tongate.

She graduated from Bowling Green State University and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She married Gene Jackson Simmons in 1962 and they made their home in Morgantown when Jack returned to become co-owner of Finn's Dress Shop.

She was a member of the Suncrest Garden Club, lifetime member of the Monongalia General Hospital Auxiliary, Women's Music Club and The Monongalia Arts Center where she served on the board.

Patsy is survived by her daughters, Lisa Ann of Morgantown, Molly Lynn and husband, Paul Willis of Newfields, NH and Carla Lee and partner Karen Garrison of Columbus, OH; grandsons Aidan Alexander Willis and Owen Jackson Willis of Newfields, NH, and her brother, John Thomas Tongate of Austin, TX.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Simmons on March 7, 1988.

At her request, there will be no visitation. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
