Obituary of Paul William "Bill" Sommer

Paul William “Bill” Sommer, 79, of Morgantown passed away on Saturday, January 12, at the Madison Center.

 

He was born on July 6, 1939 the son of the late Paul Sommer and the late Rachel Gibson.

 

Bill worked at Sterling Faucet, Seneca Glass, and Eagle Systems and Services. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, camping, coin collecting, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. He also loved spending time with his family and his pets.

 

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 61 years that he started dating in junior high, Mary Sommer; son, Karl Sommer; daughter, Sherry Sommer Shafer and her husband Randall; and grandson Andrew Shafer.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents.

 

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Tuesday, January 15, from 6-8 pm. A graveside service will be held privately at East Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
