Obituary of Mary Louise Nicholson
Mary Louise Nicholson, 85, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Mon Health Medical Center.
She was born in Morgantown on December 10, 1933, the daughter of the late Philip and Muriel Ann (Gibson) Beck.
Mary graduated from Morgantown High School in 1952. She was a former employee of Sterling Faucet Company. She was active in the Mt. Heights community, serving as a 4-H leader and Summer Playground leader. In the early '70s, Mary volunteered as a reading tutor at Summers Elementary School which led to her employment with the Monongalia Board of Education until her retirement in 2009 which included Jerome Park, Woodland, Easton Elementary, and North Elementary. She was dedicated to the children who passed through her classroom and loved sharing many memories of them up until her passing.
Mary is survived by one son and two daughters: Robert Nicholson, and wife, Roda, of Morgantown, Diana Cress and husband, Michael, of Masontown, and Paula Ayersman and husband, Eric, all of Morgantown; grandchildren: William Nicholson and wife, Vicky, Robert Nicholson, Jr., Eric Nicholson and wife, Ceann, Wesley Cress and wife, Jennifer, Whitney Hatfield and husband, Kevin, Stephanie Hadden, William and Kaelan Robinson, Leah Robinson and companion, Jeff Sanmartin; great-grandchildren: Austin and Jolyn Cress, Erica, Josh and Tagen Nicholson and Kaden Sanmartin; step-grandchildren: Christopher, Dillan, and Tyler; and a sister, Sandra Beck, of Sundale Nursing Home of whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth P. Nicholson; grandson, Kenneth Dewey Nicholson; and sisters, Alice Beck and Phyllis Kelley.
The family would like to thank Mon County EMS, Dr. Darrell Saunders, and Dr. Paul Saconn along with the Radiation/Oncology Team for the excellent care.
A Graveside Service will be held at Nicholson Cemetery on Monday, January 21, 2019, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Francis Nicholson officiating.
