Obituary of Frances Elizabeth McIntosh

Betsy McIntosh, age 98 of Morgantown, WV, formerly of Airmont, NY, passed away on the morning of December 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. McIntosh. Betsy is survived by her three children, James (Beverly) McIntosh, Paul (Gail) McIntosh, and Jean (Steven) Coutras; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Betsy was the daughter of J. Edgar and Reta (Keenan) Davidson of Hillburn, NY.

She graduated from Friends Seminary and worked as a secretary in NYC. Betsy and Walt were married in Hillburn in 1948 and lived in Airmont, NY where she was a devoted wife and mother, and a great cook. After her children were grown, Betsy drove a bus for handicapped children. After Walt’s passing, she volunteered at the soup kitchen in Suffern and was active in the area’s Senior Citizens Groups and the American Legion Auxiliary. She moved to Morgantown, WV in December 2010, where her daughter lives.

Friends and Family will be received to celebrate her life on May 18, 2019, from 10 a.m. to noon at Sloatsburg Senior Center, 8 Liberty Rock Rd, Sloatsburg, NY 10974. Please bring a favorite photo of Betsy to share with everyone. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Betsy’s favorites: The Hillburn Community Scholarship Fund and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
