Deepest sympathy & prayers to family / friends iof Dr. Richard Paul
Sutter. Greatly saddened to learn of his death. Through our mutual association at WVU my late mother and I knew Richard as a friend . Richard and his wife were integral assisting a female cousin with vision disability to attain needed visual disability equipment, assistance/ financial support. Additionally Richard each semester reliably, dependably, personably volunteered collecting resident student clothing, furnishings/ packaged/ canned food donations as students moved out of on campus WVU residence halls at semester conclusions doing this at Towers(ERC), Arnold Hall & Fieldcrest Halls. Additionally, Richard volunteered claiming unsold pastries/breads daily from Panera Bread on Patteson Drive to supply food pantry of Christian Help tonassisg those in need. Richard was well liked by his students, faculty, administrators , friends, Morgantiwn community, Christian Helo, Yrinity Eliscopal Church and his beloved family. Richard was mild mannered. joy to converse with, told wonderful stories of his world travels, Switzerland ancestry, Ohio, Boston,MA and Maine. Richard conducted and published highly regarded research from his studies and work Ag Conc Spring Harbor Tesearch Center highly recognized and acclaimed bh academia. Richard through his outreach in community taught through communicating and friendship even outside the formal academic classroom. His ckassrooom was the world and he made others enjoy knowing him and brought joy and happiness to his family , colleagues. Established friends plus new friends he made and met daily. His volunteerism to community is an example others should follow. Though seldom recognized for his volunteerism publicly, Richard made a great impact on the community and to many. Richard cared about others and his friendship with them endured a lifetime. Proudly and with honor, I was a friend and will miss him . His legacy will live ion in memories of all fortunate to know such a wonderful, kind/well-educated man who recognized each person is important and has value. It was my great fortune to kniw as friend Richard Paul Sutter. Blessings.

Teaching in Colorado and oceanographic studied at Wallops Islanc and elsewhere were research achievements highly respected in academia by colleagues. Richard cared about his family, his community, people in his life who were friends, and he was always making new ones each day. His stories of his youth, Switzerland, world travels, WV were amazing and he educated through friendship communications even when not in the formal classroom. His community service volunteerism is an example fir others to emujste, though he seldom received it desired public recognition for his service.Such s most gentle, educated, community leader and Friend will be missed greatly by all and his family.
