Obituary of Timothy Joseph Rowe, Sr.
Timothy Joseph Rowe, Sr., died peacefully in his home on Sunday, December 8, 2019, in Morgantown, at the age of 79.
Tim was born on November 25, 1940, in Morgantown, WV. He graduated from University High School in 1959 and attended West Virginia Business College earning a certificate in business. He married Penny Phillips in 1963. A life-long resident of Morgantown, Tim retired as Supervisor of Shipping and Sales from Consolidation Coal Company after 27 years. During their marriage, Tim and Penny welcomed three children and seven grandchildren into their family. His grandchildren, who affectionately called him Dopper, remember him as generous, hardworking and witty.
Tim was accomplished at fly fishing and hunting and often tied his own flies and reloaded his own bullets. He was a faithful husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed watching westerns, loved researching his family history to include personally browsing through cemeteries.
Tim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Paula "Penny" Phillips Rowe; children, Rhonda Rowe, Jill Darnell, and Timothy Rowe, Jr. and his wife, Erin; and grandchildren Nichole Darnell, Brooke Rowe, Carina Darnell, Zachary Rowe and his wife, Kimberly, Tad Dakota Rowe, Rachael Rowe, and Adam Rowe.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Florence Rowe; siblings, Lt. William Rowe, and Eleanor Rowe Bell; and son-in-law, Ronald Darnell of Morgantown.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, from 5 – 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am, with Pastor Jim Cooley, II of Morgantown Bible Church and Tim's son, Tim Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
