When I hadn't heard from Koula at Christmas or for my birthday in March, I was perplexed. She always remembered. The two phone numbers I had were invalid, so I decided to look on line, expecting to see biographical information and, perhaps, a valid phone number. I was stunned and saddened to see her obituary but touched at the tribute she received. Although Koula and I didn't see each other much through the years, we always maintained our friendship which began as children in Uniontown.
We exchanged letters, notes, gifts long before emails became the standard. We did, of course, adopt the tech communication, and if I hadn't emailed for a while, I'd receive a note asking how I was. Whenever a natural disaster hit Calif, I'd hear from Koula inquiring about my well-being. She was the kindest, caring, sweetest, gentlest, accepting friend I've ever had. Dedicating herself to her academic pursuits, she found time to be the loving mother -- so proud of her sons.
Although those reading this don't know me, I assure you that I felt very close to Koula and appreciative of her friendship. She was my sister, always understanding whatever life challenges I was facing. She sent me journals, memorabilia and precious gifts I treasure. I was missing her before I read the obituary; I've been missing her even more since I learned of her passing, and I will continue to miss my dear friend, a treasure, for the rest of my life. I am so fortunate to have known her.

Cousin Koula will be remembered with great fondness as a loving and kind relative without a mean bone in her body. She kept "in touch" very well and was always upbeat. She had many traits like our Mother, her Aunt, and kept her spirit alive in our hearts and minds. To her beloved husband, Richard, and beloved son, Chris (Xack) as well as brother George and family, our deepest condolences. We'll always remember her and how much she loved us and we loved her.
Steve and Kathy plus Jennifer, Carol and Stephanie as well as Cousin Betty

"K.C." as I called her, was such a joy to be around. She was always looking out for other people and truly cared about you. She looked and acted as if she were much, much younger than her years. She was also such a nice down to earth person. I will miss her dearly. She was like a mother to me. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.

I met her in 1970 at Kirkland Hall College. She was tough and fair
We laugh so hard when we talk about those years.

For several years, Koula was a colleague and I valued her contributions to a writer's group we both participated in and to which she brought and shared her enthusiasm, talents, and generous spirit.. Her passion for her writing -- and her devotion to telling the full story of Zelda Fitzgerald -- stimulated and enrichedus all. I always sensed the strong encouragement of her children and her husband Richard behind her and I wish them the continued strength of her spirit as they mourn her loss,.

Koula was my best friend in early grade school. She lived two house up Lincoln St. from my aunt and uncle, with whom I spent much time. I shall never forget all the balmy evenings we spent on the glider of her front porch, eating her mom's delicious Greek cookies, and playing canasta. We moved inside as the weather turned colder. This time of year, I remember sitting around her family Christmas tree, enjoying the warmth not of the season, but of a loving, kind, family, who graciously included me.
We lost touch for many years but reconnected at my uncle's funeral in 2014. She and Richard attended our wedding in 2019. That was my introduction to Richard, and their introduction to my husband Joe.
We really regret that the China virus prevented us from getting together this past year.
Koula was vibrant, loving, warm, caring, and selfless. She always encouraged others. We cherish her wedding gift, a diary with instructions to record loving thoughts to each others, and sometimes apologies. She attributed her 50+ year marriage at least in part, to its use.
Her life defines nobility. We will miss her..
Our thoughts and prayers are with Richard, her sons, and George and Pat.
It seems like God decided He needed another Christmas angel.
