Obituary of Gladys Mae Kirby Campbell Gladys Kirby Campbell, 94, of Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. She was born on November 29, 1926, in Grafton, WV, a daughter of the late Paul and Lena Kirby. Gladys was married for 61 years to Howard Campbell who passed away in March 2006. Gladys dedicated her life to her family and her Christian faith and for many years traveled throughout the United States with her husband for eight years in their RV as members of the MMAPS (Mobile Missionary Assistance Program) by working on selected projects at churches, camps, missions, orphanages, and other Christ-centered activities. She was a longtime member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. In her later years, she attended Spruce Street United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Gladys also enjoyed reading, painting, gardening, and other creative activities, but most of all, loved being with her family. She was a selfless and loving mother and friend and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Pamela Bowers and her husband, Delbert, Patricia Harris and her husband, Steve, Michael Campbell and wife, Cathlene, and Susan Trantham and her husband, Michael; her surviving siblings, Sarah Cox and her husband, Bill; and brother, Don Kirby. She was blessed with several grandchildren, Delbert Martin Bowers, III, Nathaniel Bowers, Sarah Harris, Daniel Harris, Rachel Thomas, Laura Henry, Luke Lester, and Adam Lester along with several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and spouse, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Russell Kirby, Jess Kirby and Alice Dolan. Hastings Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Gladys will be buried with her husband at the Veterans National Cemetery in Pruntytown, West Virginia. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be a private family committal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gladys Campbell to Spruce Street United Methodist Church, 386 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV 26505.
