Rosa DiSimone Austin, 77, of Morgantown, WV passed away on December 31, 2020. She was born on May 16, 1943 and was the treasured daughter of the late Caroline and Pasquale DSimone of Paulsboro NJ and was the 17th of 18 siblings born into the family. Rosa was a kind and generous person and settled in WV after meeting the love of her life, the late Charles Austin, to whom she was married for 36 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and in later years, with her faithful dog and number one companion, Bowser. Rosa had a heart of gold and loved Italian cuisine including pastas, and homemade pizzelle cookies by her sister Lena. She was an active member with The Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church led by Pastor Sean. Both Pastor and church member Renee were tremendously generous and steadfast in their unwavering friendship with Rosa over the years. Rosa is survived by her cherished daughter, Theresa Chavis of Gloucester City, NJ, and by grandsons Gregory Chavis of Runnemede, NJ, and William Hansen of Sicklerville, NJ as well as great granddaughter, Leah. She is also survived by four sisters and a brother all who loved her dearly. Her sister, Mary, was her biggest advocate throughout her life and showered her with undying devotion. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, William Chavis. Hastings Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Due to COVID-19, the funeral service will be private, and interment will take place at West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
