It took a while for me to realize that Aileen was my colleague "Chris." That may be because I didn't want it to be her. Although we haven't been in touch within the past years, she was one of the first people I met when I joined the English department in the 1960's, and I associate her warmly -- and gratefully -- with early days in my career in the English Department at WVU. We shared with a few other new faculty an amazingly run-down building -- no longer there -- on Willey Street and shared, as well, our feelings of desperately wanting to get out of there -- but Chris was the most goodnatured and good-humored of all of us, She was always generous, unassuming, funny and a very good friend,
I wish her family happy memories of a fine woman.

Chris was an extraordinary member of the English Department of WVU. Everyone like her--her charm, her wit, her easy going manner, her knowledge. To have been able to work with her was a gift certainly. She will always have a special place in my heart.

Knowing Chris these past several years has been most enjoyable. Her contributions in book club were always insightful and her scrabble group were enjoyed by all, even though she usually won! I will miss her wit and easy chuckle, and her zest for life. Thank you to the family for taking such wonderful care of her these past weeks and months.

I have wonderful memories of my Aunt Chris from my youth. I loved the way she laughed and always seemed to enjoy life so much. I will miss our words with friends games. I am thankful for her life❤️
