Obituary of Thomas Gay Brown

TThomas Gay Brown, 95, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at J W Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 27, 1925, in Preston County, West Virginia, the son of the late Kenneth Hope Brown and Martha Olive (Stemple) Brown. He proudly served as Chief Master Sergeant with the U. S. Air Force and retired after 31 years. His tenure included serving our country during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. At an early age, Thomas loved sports and as an adult, he never missed a WVU football game. He was a Phi Sigma Kappa member at West Virginia University. He was an active member of the community whose involvements included: the VFW, the Moose Club, the Shriners, and the Golden Mountaineer program for senior citizens. He also attended Suncrest United Methodist Church. He was survived by his daughter, Katrina Lynn Kratche; his son, Zachary Scott Brown; grandchildren: Christina Lynn Sorrells, Corey Brown, Andrew Wilson, Joshua Brown, Nicholas Brown, and Katelyn Brown. In addition to his parents, he is preceeded in death by his son, Shawn Patrick Brown; his grandchildren, Justin Brown and Nichole Leigh Rouis; and his brother, Richard Brown. There will be a Graveside Service on Monday, April 19, 2021 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV where full Military Honors will be provided. Due to COVID-19, all guests are asked to maintain social distancing and wear a mask. Cremation services have been provided by Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory.
