James M. (Jim) Cooper, 90, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at his home. He was born in Mt. Morris, PA, on November 25, 1930, the son of the late Walter Grayson and Elva Gladys (Beal) Cooper. He attended Mt. Morris High School and graduated from University High School in 1948. He graduated in 1952 from West Virginia University School of Agriculture and Forestry. He was a member of the WVU and WVU Agriculture and Forestry Alumni Associations. Jim retired after 30 years with the Soil Conservation Service, U. S. Dept. of Agriculture, serving in Michigan, West Virginia and Washington, DC. He served in the U.S. Army, with a tour of duty in Korea. He was an Amateur Radio Operator and a Red Cross volunteer. He taught at the Adult Learning Center, Monongalia Technical Education Center and was a past member of the Pines Country Club. He is survived by daughters Kristen of Morgantown and Polly (William) Green of Cary, NC; sister Mary Jo Horton of New Philadelphia, OH; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Nancy; sisters Ruth and Helen June; and brother Allen. Hastings Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
