I am so grateful for the chance to have known Renee during the few years when my wife and I attended St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Morgantown. She was a blessing to me and my family. I was saddened to hear of her passing but I am glad that her suffering has ended and that she is in the care of our gracious and loving Savior.

I came to know the McCutchan family when their children attended elementary school. I have read the other posts and agree with everything that everyone has said. When I think of Renee I see her loving smile and remember her kind and gentle spirit. As others have posted, if you tried to compliment her, she always turned it around to you. She never had any negative flaws. I could have learned a great deal from her positivity. She was always helping at the school in any way that she could, buzzing around like a very busy bee. I am so glad that God brought Renee and her family into my life and into the lives of so many others. All of us have been truly blessed with the honor of knowing Renee and her family. Renee, there are so many people who love you and will miss you greatly. To Frank, Jacqueline, Frankie and your family, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry.
Sincerely, Jenna Fetty

I have a very vivid image of Renee doing the butterfly in the waters of the Inland Coastal Waterway in NC during one of our trips there in college. Absolute beauty and power - just like she was in life.

Of all of the people I knew and was close to growing up in Altoona, Renee was by far my favorite. Now I sit here trying to figure out some words I can string together to convey the proper condolences or thoughts to those who love her the most, Frank, her kids, and her family and closest friends. I know how this hurts from afar, so I just can’t fathom the gap that will be left. I pray that the memories of this most amazing woman comfort you and we are so very sorry for your loss. All of our love from San Diego.

Jackie, Phil, Rick, and her close family I never knew, I send my deepest sympathies. Remember her fondly, work through your grief and be patient with one another as you will most likely all process these difficult emotions differently. Renee was so humble with her swimming talent and such an encourager to those of us who were substantially slower. I was so happy when she chose WVU, my alma matter, and so proud of all of her swimming accomplishments. -Hope Mucklow, www.hopetheparentteacher.com

Frank & Family: Our deepest condolences for the loss of Renee. She made our family feel special, asking about our kids, and granddaughter. She was a genuine, lovable person - a true angel on earth. She's looking down at us now, out of pain, and smiling at all who loved her. God bless.

My heart is broken for the amazing friend I've lost. She was the most humble, caring, uplifting person I knew. I would say something like "Renee you look so beautiful today, I love that outfit!" She would reply "Oh Shannon you are beautiful, you are always so stylish." She always somehow turned anything about her into something positive about the other person. I've never heard her say a bad thing about another human being. She was always doing the nicest things for Taylor and then when Trent came into the picture, she never did anything for Taylor without including Trent too. Trent starting swimming with Club Mountaineer and she was his biggest fan! His first swim meet she surprised him with Eat N Park smiley cookies and the most encouraging card. She was the kind of friend I didn't see or talk to everyday but when we did we picked up right where we left off. When we were leaving to move to Canada, we went over to see the family. With masks on and sitting outside we had the best time. Of course, she had gifts for us. All of it was WVU cause she said she didn't want us to forget West Virginia. She was a special person who was taken way too soon. My heart goes out to the entire family. I can't even begin to imagine the loss you feel. My deepest condolences.

My deepest sympathy to Rick, Jackie, and Renee's family. I can't imagine what you are going through except to finally realize she is at peace and out of pain. She was so young but I am happy she got to share her years with her husband and children and they knew what a wonderful, caring person she was.
Love,

You are by far the most positive person I have ever met. You always greeted folks by name followed by something positive about them! You shone light on our family during a time of darkness and you were a great mentor for our children. Love you and prayers to all during this time. Karen Brock

This is just heartbreaking. I didn’t know Renee well but I grew up swimming with Frank, and felt a great kinship with her due to our shared experience as swimmers as we reconnected recently. I could tell she faced her adversity with a toughness learned in the pool, and love learned from her family and friends. I won’t forget her.

My heart and tears go out to the whole McCutchan family with the loss of Renée. She was the smiling face at St Mary's. So gentle, kind, and willing to help in anyway, and she did with her whole heart. Her memory is forever etched into my saddened heart. Lord have mercy on her soul and bring peace to her loving family. I love you, Renée.
