Debbie was my chemo nurse, in 2004-2005. She was competent, kind. We visited in my year, about music. And hiking. And faith. I kept in touch with her at Christmas.
When I had a decision to make about course of treatment, I was scared. I felt like I had one chance to get this right. Debbie sat with me and let me wail and talk and eventually calmed enough to make a decision. She held my hand. Got me tissues.
And each day of treatment she helped me to the bathroom, cleaned up. Kept a watchful eye on me.
She made such a difference for me. I am grateful our paths crossed.
Blessings to all who love her.
Kathleen Poe

Wow - will I miss her. She was such a special friend. Met a bit over 17 years ago. She was my cancer nurse. We shared our strong belief and love for God. I doubt I'll ever meet another gal that was as strong a fighter as she was. She kept going when most would have stopped. We had fun trips to check out fall leaves, do little shops in different areas, eat lunch, etc. One of her biggest concerns this past year was for those she loved that were unsaved. She shared His love with them through talk and writing. She also loved her pets. Remy and Tasha were so special to her. She did get aggravated with their 4-5 a.m. play time!! She got to celebrate Christmas with the reason for the season - Christ himself. She isn't hurting anymore. She got to experience the "awe" that her and I recently discussed we would have when meeting God. Fear and awe. A good fear - respect and love. We were sisters in Christ. God blessed me incredibly by putting Debbie in my path. Thank you for that God!! What a blessing!! I loved her dearly.

To David. You may not remember me. I'm Dokie's daughter. Mom just passed away on Dec 1. I want to send my condolences to you and your family. I know you loved your kids from the bottom of your heart. And losing one is terribly painful. I still remember you very well. I'm so sorry that you lost Debbie. You know very well that you will be reunited with Debbie and Ruth some day in Heaven. That will be a happiness like you've never known! Take care. Maureen O'Brien
