To The Family of Dr Crosby,I was very sad to hear about the death of one of my favorite doctors. Dr Crosby was a kind and man who always took a great deal of time and had a lot of concern for his patients.I cried when I read about his death, but when his full obituary came out and I read about his interests and found out what a wonderful life he had outside of the office I was thrilled! Why should patients be so surprised by these revelations? We met Drake at the office and he tried to tell us. LOLWe began missing him when he left Internal Medicine but this only makes it final.JSJ

Kerr,I am sorry for your lose.I didn''t know your husband, Dr. Tom Crosby. I never met him, but I did observe him one time smoking a cigarette outside a MGH side door, with several employees. My wife, Sandy, worked at MGH as a Nurse Manager and/or Director of Oncology and Medicine and she knew Tom personally. Sandy was being treated by a MGH doctor for an alleged torn rotator cuff in her right shoulder. Sandy had performed painful, but useless, physical therapy on her arm and shoulder for a few years with no relief, until Tom pulled her aside one day. He said," Come see me Mrs. Weiss, I think I can help you." And she did see him. Tom ran a series of neurological tests on Sandy, including various brain scans. Afterwards, he told Sandy that he could find nothing wrong , but he said, "Given your symptoms, and without any evidence to the contrary, we call your condition Parkinson''s Disease." Needlesstosay, Sandy was devastated. Being a nurse she was well aware of the disease''s eventual progression and outcome. Tom referred Sandy to a Pittsburgh neurologist (Susan Baser, MD) for treatment. Thereafter, we routinely drove to Pittsburgh for Sandy''s examinations and treatment. Dr. Baser ordered medicines which helped Sandy greatly coup with her illness as it progressed. A few years later Sandy had a massive brain hemorrhage, unrelated to Parkinson''s Disease, which ended her life.Sandy appreciated Tom for helping her identify her illness so the proper treatment could be obtained. Sandy had needlessly suffered through misdiagnosis by at least one MGH doctor for several years, which probably would have continued with out Tom''s kind help.I acknowledge and appreciate that Tom helped my wife, Sandy Weiss.Bill
